STEP 1. Creating the promotion

1.Access the Easypromos Control Panel via this link: http://admin.easypromosapp.com. Use your Facebook profile to log in to your Dashboard. You can create and manage all your promotions from here.

 2. Create a new promotion using the “Create New Promotion” button.

3. You’ll see a list of available products. Choose “Predictions” to create a promotion that consists of a series of questions asking participants to predict the result of a game, championship, tournament, and so on.

4.Go on to step 2 and choose the platform version to use (Premium or White Label).

5. Your promotion is already created! In the background, you can see the promotion management page. A pop-up window will ask you some extra information in order to help you with pre-settings. If you are not interested, you can skip this step.

  • Language by default: Option for selecting the language by default in which you wish to display the promotion content.
  • Country. You'll be able to limit participation to one or several particular countries, and only those users who have an IP address corresponding to these countries will be able to register Find more information about country filters.

6. Now you find yourself in the promotion management page, where you have all the options for configuring the promotion. Below we outline all the most relevant sections:

1. Header. You will find the title of the promotion, the version and other relevant information such as the ID number of the promotion, which unequivocally identifies each promotion. Present this number to the Easypromos technical team if you have any issues with, or doubts about, the promotion. This will make it easier for them to review your settings.

2. Link to the promotion. This is the URL that you should use in all the promotion sharing actions that you wish to carry out. More information here.

3. Copy link button. Here you'll be able to automatically copy the link to disseminate the promotion.

4. Side menu. Here you will find all the configuration options of the promotion.

5. Statistics menu. Here you'll find all the general statistics of your contest. It indicates the total users, total votes, emails sent to participants, total page views, general view of visits received, total share button clicks and number of followers gained.

6. Management of dates. Modify the promotion dates from this module.

7. Promotion status. It indicates the status of the promotion: Draft, Active or expired, as well as it is ready to start.

8. Visibility module. Here you'll find the main options to give your promotion more visibility: Publish the promotion as a Facebook tab, appear in the public list of Easypromos promotions and click button to share the promotion.

9. Localization. Select the promotion language by default. You'll also be able to link the promotion to a dictionary you have created with your own texts and translations. In addition, you'll be able to limit participation to one or several particular countries from here. By default the promotion will be visible in all countries. If you want to restrict it only to certain countries, click on ‘Edit’ and enter the names of the countries you wish to include (available in Premium and White Label).

STEP 2. Creating the questions and answers

The platform will come with the pre-sets relevant to the type of application you have chosen. Now, set the questions that you wish to ask participants. Next, move on to the Advanced Options in order to customize the application to meet your needs.

1. Enter the promotion “Editor”.

2. Find the “Quiz” option and begin creating your first question by clicking on the corresponding button.

Note: If this is your first time using the Quiz Editor, we recommend you watch this video tutorial which will show you the most important features.

3. For every question you create, the following window will appear to help you choose the question type. If you’re already familiar with the Quiz Editor, click on “Advanced” and you’ll see all the options.

For this type of promotion we suggest you start by using closed questions (single response, multi-response, sortable response) and dropdown menus.

Single Answer

To test it out, try creating a “Single Answer” question. This is the most common type.

  • After entering your first question, decide whether you want to add an image or video, and whether you want a horizontal or vertical design.

Note: check out our recommendations for measurements of questionnaire images.

  • Create the answers. In this case, as you’ve decided to make them single answers, you should create a number of possible responses, knowing that the participant will only be able to select one.
  • Select “New Answer” and create as many closed answers as you foresee there being for each question.

Important! For optimal display of each entry, we recommend that each answer/button include text as well as image.

  • Set the layout of the answer in "Answers per row". You can also hide the “Continue” button in order to streamline the quiz.

This type of quiz enables participants to select more than one answer. When setting it up you can decide how many different answers the participant may select.

  • Minimum and maximum number of answers. With these two fields you can determine how many answers the participant should select in order to progress to the next question. In betting pools it’s a good idea to make the minimum and maximum the same.
  • Scoring system. It’s possible to award points for each correct answer, or alternatively to only award points if the participant gets all the answers right.

Sortable answer

The participant must order the answers (all the options or a certain number only).

Selectable list

If you have a large number of options and the participant has to choose just one, this option might be useful. It could also come in handy if you want to ask several questions about the betting pool on the same screen. You can choose to make the list drop-down or auto-completable.

Important! While you’re setting up the questions and answers, leave all the answers as “0”. When you know the results you can fill in the points to indicate the correct answers. Here we explain how to reward points for correct answers.

STEP 3. Customizing the texts and images for each screen

2. Configure the texts and images of each screen of the promotion:

A) Landing page

- Change the provisional title for one that allows identify the strong points of your promotion. It’s a good idea to make this descriptive text as attractive as possible to users.

- Configure the texts for the page and upload an 810px wide x 450px high image to give it more dynamism.

- In the description, change the provisional text to personalize and explain your own contest mechanism so that participants are clear about what steps they should follow to take part in the contest. You can also customize the ‘Enter’ and ‘View entries’ buttons.

B) Entry form page. Add the fields that you wish your participants to complete. You can also customize the text and screen header image. In the Premium and White Label versions you can fill in the form with all the additional fields, dropdown menus and check boxes that you need. Find all the information about how to set up the entry form.

Note: The customization of the registration form with additional text fields is not included by default in promotions created with the Basic version. It can be included as an extension for $15USD.

C) Thank you page. Customize it with a final image and a thank you text. You can also create an extra button with an external link.

  • Text to encourage users to share. On the left side of the first share button there is a text that you can customize. Use this to encourage your participants to share the contest.
  • Thank you message. You can also use it to thank participants and tell them when the winner will be announced.
  • Use the final image to give a more personalized aspect to the sweepstake, reminding participants what the prize is and encouraging them to share the sweepstake.

Note: download the Easypromos Design Guide and you will have measurements for all the images you need to complete the promotion.

STEP 4. Customizing the design

Adjust the colors of the buttons and sections of the promotion to give it the look & feel of your brand, product or campaign. You can also choose fonts, upload a background image or introduce customized CSS styles (in White Label promotions).

If you’d like to know more about how these sections work, check out the following links:

STEP 5. Introducing the Legal Bases

Introduce the Legal Bases explaining all the features of the betting pool. Legal Bases will be displayed via a button on the promotion homepage, as well as from a link available on any screen of the promotion.

STEP 6. Setting up the My Networks modules and the promotion footer

The “My Networks” module enables you to completely customize the screen that’s presented to the participants encouraging them to “Like” your Facebook Page. You can suggest as many Facebook Pages, Twitter and Instagram profiles, and YouTube profiles as you like. Find out how to set this up.

You can also customize or deactivate the promotion footer texts. These are banners at the foot of each screen of the promotion. When clicked on they lead to the ‘My Networks’ module. Find more information here.

STEP 7. Customizing viral content

This section is very important for achieving good virality for your betting pool.  Viral content is what’s displayed when the participating user shares the promotion to invite friends to take part or vote. You’ll be able to customize the content of this shared message, tailoring it to fit each social media channel.

You should fill in the following sections:

A) Options

  • What would you like participants to share? By default, viral recruiting content is presented to participants on the final page of the registration process. We recommend you use this preconfigured setting for your betting pool.
  • Viral image. This is the image that will accompany the text to be shared. To ensure it is optimal for the social networks we recommend it measures 1200px wide by 630px high. The same image will be shared for Facebook, Pinterest and Google+. If no specific image is uploaded for this section the main promotion image will be shared instead.

B) Generic content. This is a viral text that will be shared across the social networks when the participant shares the promotion using the Share button on the Homepage and the Registration Form. By default, the title and description of the promotion will be shared. However you can customize this content. Find out more

C) Recruiting. Viral text that will be shared across the social networks when the participant shares the promotion from the final page. Keep in mind that this is the text that the participant will share among his/her friends, inviting them to participate in the betting pool. Find out how to set it up.

D) Participation. This is the content that will be shared by default across the social networks from the public list of participants. The participant’s prediction is not shared, but a link to it is. You can customize the title and description to be shared on Facebook, as well as viral messages for the other social networks.

Note: the “Use participation content as description” checkbox does not share the prediction; therefore we do not suggest you activate it in this type of promotion.

STEP 8. Advanced setup options

To create a betting pool, check the setup of the “Sign-in” and “Entries” sections.

  • Check the form participants use to identify themselves in the promotion. Here at Easypromos we suggest you don’t make sign-in obligatory and instead allow users to participate by simply identifying themselves with their Facebook account or email address.
  • This section already comes pre-set to meet the most common requirements for betting pools. Check the configurable options and modify them if necessary to adapt them to your promotion. Each option features a help window to provide you with more information. Here are the most important options:

- Max. entries per user. You can decide how many times a user can enter. By default, this number is one entry per user.

- Notification of new participant. Use this if you’d like to receive an email each time someone participates.

- Publish entries. This option is enabled by default. You should keep it active if you want the participants’ predictions and scores to be publically visible.

- Publish responses in the participants list. This option is enabled by default to display each participant’s prediction publically. This also changes the options of the public list. The user can sort the list in order of “Most recent participants” or “Score”.

Once the points have been calculated, and the results/predictions of each participant updated, all this will also be displayed publically. The participants can also be displayed in this order.

- Antifraud options. With the aim of helping administrators organize high-quality contests, we provide a series of tools and techniques for minimizing the impact of bad practices. Find out more about configurable options here.

STEP 9. Communicating with participants via the Emails Platform

If you need to communicate with participants during and after the promotion you can use this section to create, customize and send emails.

This tool can be very useful for betting pool promotions because it means you can set up automatic emails to be sent to participants to:

  1. Thank them for registering.
  2. Inform them of their score once the points have been calculated.
  3. Communicate with winning users informing them of their success.

Find out how to create an email with this platform to communicate with participants from the start. This will help you achieve greater virality.

Important! The Platform provides a "smart tags" feature which enables you to set up customized emails. Use the "smart tag" {{user_recruiting_url}} so that this can be replaced by the recruiting URL of each participant.

STEP 10. Previewing your promotion

From here you can preview how the promotion will be displayed. Please bear in mind that the preview is not functional. This means you can go from one page to another without filling in any of the fields. The way to test the full functionality of the promotion is by activating the promotion and protecting it; this will then allow you to carry out tests in a closed group. Here’s how to do this.

STEP 11. Activating the promotion

Once you’ve set up all aspects of the promotion you can pay for and activate it from the Promotion Management Page. Find more information here.

STEP 12. Publishing the promotion

Although your promotion is now active, there’s one step left: publishing the promotion. When you create the betting pool, a URL is generated. This serves as a direct link to the promotion. By default, this main link leads to a microsite where the promotion is displayed. Also, but not exclusively, you can publish the betting pool on a Facebook Page or embed it in your blog or website. Use the “Publish” button to choose where to publish it. You can find more information about Step 12 here.

STEP 13. Sharing the promotion

It’s also important to disseminate your questionnaire via various channels. Always use the main promotion link, as it’s the only one which is compatible with any type of device.

You can share the promotion using the following methods:

  • With the direct promotion link.
  • With the Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest “Share” button.
  • Creating a featured campaign. This involves placing your promotion in the Easypromos list of featured promotions. Featured promotions cost a little extra per day on top of the price you pay for activating the campaign. Read this tutorial to find out how to create a featured campaign.

STEP 14. Creating a “Multiday” betting pool (optional)

If you’d like to create a betting pool for each day of the championship, tournament or competition, the ideal solution is to create a promotion for each day and then present them all in a promotions group:

Using this solution will give you a global ranking of participants which will be updated as new points are added after each new promotion.

If you like this option:

  1. Create a betting pool by following the steps in this tutorial. Once you’ve got the basics sorted out make a copy of the promotion for each day.
  2. Organize the promotions into a group and complete the setup.
  3. Bear in mind that participants must identify themselves via Facebook in order for the ranking mechanism to work properly.

STEP 15. Managing the promotion while it’s still active

While the promotion is active you can monitor participations from the Promotion Management Page by clicking on “See participants”.

From here you’ll be able to see the information and responses of participants and download it all to an Excel file.

Note: Participants’ information will be available even after the promotion has finished.

STEP 16. Updating the scores and calculating points accumulated by participants

Once the event or activity has finished, return to the Promotion Management Page to select the correct answers to each question, and manage the predictions made by participants.

Follow these steps:

1. Quiz:

Access the Editor>Quiz and rate the correct answers. This tutorial will guide you through the process of correctly rating each question type (single response, multiple response, sortable response, etc.).

Tip: you can award as many points as you like for each correct answer. For example, if a question was harder to answer, you can award more points to whoever got it right.

2. See participants:

Go back to the Promotion Management Page and the “See Participants” section in order to recalculate participants’ points.

Once you’ve rated the correct answers you can calculate the number of points obtained by each participant. Use the following tool:

A screen will show you the calculation progress and tell you how many participants’ results are being updated:

From this point on, the number of points obtained by each user will be displayed in the participants list as well as the corresponding Excel file.

Use the filter and sort tool located in the left-hand column to see how many participants have successfully answered all the questions and who has the highest score.

STEP 17. Running a random sweepstakes to finalize the promotion, publishing the prizewinners

If a number of people are tied for first place, or if your Legal Bases specify that a random sweepstakes will be carried out among all those who predict correctly or win the most points, you should now use the “Winners” tool.

STEP 18. Checking the betting pool statistics

Access the “Statistics” section to find out more about the evolution of your participants and their interaction with the application. This information will be available from the moment the first participant registers and even after the promotion has ended. Learn more about the information you can find in this section.
